Tom Hanks is sharing his thoughts on his daughter’s recently released memoir, The 10: A Memoir of Family and the Open Road.
In her recently released memoir, E.A. Hanks alleges that her mom, Samantha Lewes, was physically and emotionally abusive throughout her childhood.

The emotional book details her childhood following Tom and Samantha‘s divorce, writing about her childhood with details like, “The fridge was bare or full of expired food more often than not, and my mother spent more and more time in her big four-poster bed, poring over the Bible.”
In an interview with Access Hollywood, Tom shared his thoughts on his daughter’s work. In the interview, he called his daughter a “knockout” and said that it didn’t come as a surprise to the 68-year-old actor that she shared so many personal details about her childhood in the memoir.
“I’m not surprised that my daughter had the wherewithal as well as the curiosity to examine this thing that I think she was incredibly honest about,” Tom said in the interview and went on to say, “We all come from checkered, cracked lives.”
Tom and Samantha were married from 1978 through their divorce in 1987 and share two children together in E.A. and Colin Hanks.
Last month, it was announced that Tom will be starring in an Off-Broadway play he co-wrote.
