Ryan Leslie has been brought up on Day 4 of Diddy’s sex trafficking trial, as Cassie answered questions about the relationship she was in prior to starting a romance with the music mogul, who was arrested in 2024 for alleged sex trafficking, prostitution, racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, as well as transportation to engage in prostitution. (Diddy has pleaded not guilty to all charges.)
Ryan is an acclaimed musician and producer who released six solo albums, and has worked with everyone from Beyoncé to Britney Spears to Kanye West, among many others.
He’s also credited with discovering Cassie in 2004, who signed to his NextSelection record label in a joint-venture with Diddy‘s Bad Boy Records two years later, and he wrote and produced her debut single “Me & U.”

During Day 4 of the trial, Cassie testified she was dating Ryan when she met Diddy.
When she signed with Bad Boy Records in 2006, she was platonic with label boss Diddy and dating Ryan, she confirmed, via NBC News.
She was dating Ryan for about three years when she went to Miami to see Diddy, the first time she had sex with Diddy, she said.
She confirmed that a flier was made to advertise a club appearance she was making to give the impression of a professional reason to travel to Miami, so as not to make Ryan suspicious.
